Montelupone Art Museum and Ancient Trades

The museum, recognised by the Marche Region as the Demo-Ethno-Anthropological Museum, was set up in the impressive cellars of the Municipal Building and was inaugurated on 3 May 1998. There are work tools and equipment pertaining to the ancient artisan trades of the central hills of the Marche territory. The exhibition is part of a broader context of retrieving the heritage of popular culture, material and tradition so that the historical memory of generations will not be lost, who, through their work and culture, have passed on the positive values of life. The rooms contain old artisan and agricultural equipment, various ancient objects, photographs, clothing and in general, extensive material regarding the traditions, folklore, customs, popular festivals, dialect, proverbs, nursery rhymes and superstitions – brought to light by meticulous research throughout the territory and made possible by the invaluable contribution of volunteers. 1998
