Potenza Picena Church of the Friars Minor

The Convent and the Church of the “Zoccolanti” (monks with clogs) or Friars minor, dates back to the end of the 1400s, but was renovated numerous times. Inside the church there are some notable paintings such as the “Crucifixion” by Palma il Giovane (1590) and on the main altar, an altarpiece by De Magistris (1576) portraying “Our Lady with Child and Saints.” The convent is the main office of the Provincial Missionary Centre of the Friars Minor and preserves a rich missionary museum. Near the convent and inside the walls, there is the Church of Saint James the Greater. On the façade there is a rose window from the 14th century. Also from this church is the triptych of Paolo Bontulli from Percanestro di Camerino (1508), two paintings from the Marchigiano School of the 18th century, the “Sacred Heart” by Luigi Fontana (19th century) and on the walls, frescoes by Giuseppe Pauri (1907).
